A lot of people confuse on what laptop fits on their daily lives. To decide what laptop is for you, you need to ask yourself questions like "why you need a laptop", "What size is you want?", "How much is your budget" and etc.

I make a list of laptops from your answer to the question "Why you need a laptop?". Is it for school, for gaming, for office or other.

I consider several things to ensure that the laptop fits on you.

  • Size/weight
  • Power Consumption
  • Warranty
  • Operating System
  • Price
  • upgrade-ability

What Laptop is For Teens?

Teens need a laptop that have a promise of technical support or warranty because teens laptops will take more damage than other. Teen's laptop needs warrant of 1 year or higher.

Next thing is the weight and size, teens need laptop that is light and portable. Something that they can carry all the time.

another important thing is Memory/Storage Space, 512 MB of RAM and 60 Gigabytes of storage is enough for teen's laptop if they only used it for school. However, teens need higher RAM and storage if they use laptop for gaming, collecting songs and videos. For this case, I recommend 1GB-2GB of RAM and 80GB-200GB of Storage.

Teen's laptop also needs Wireless Connectivity for surfing the internet in many place that has WiFi like schools, libraries, homes and cafes.

other important things that need to consider are Power Consumption/Batteries(teens need laptop that can use for very long time) and Operating System.

Summary:

Warranty-1 year or higher

weight and size-light and portable

Memory/Storage Space- 1GB-2GB of RAM and 80GB-200GB of Storage

Wireless Connectivity- WiFi access

Power Consumption/Batteries- low power consumption and high battery power.

Operating System- easy to use and popular.

laptop for teens: HP Pavilion dv6t

"Can be use for gaming, school and other teens love."

The Pavilion dv6t comes with an exterior design that looks to have been made especially for the young ones. Whether you choose it in a sober black or classy white, you won’t go wrong and your new purchase will be appreciated by everyone. It looks pretty solid too, but you’ll have to protect the shiny surfaces from scratches if you want to maintain the original aspect for a long period.

Review:

  • Weight and Size(√)- The 15.6 inches display is pretty good and its 1366 x 768 resolution is adequate for teenager use. It's weight is 10 lbs, a little heavy but its okay for 500 GB and 7200 rpm hard drive.
  • Memory/Storage Space(√)- the Intel Core i7 720QM processor is more than enough. With 4 GB of dual channel DDR3 RAM and an integrated NVIDIA graphic solution. and it has 500 GB and 7200 rpm hard drive.
  • Wireless Connectivity(√)- Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector) and 802.11b/g WLAN Wireless G Card
  • Power Consumption/Batteries(√)- 6-Cell Lithium-Ion battery (approx. 6 hour lifespan)
  • Operating System(√)- Windows Vista
  • Warranty(?)- Depend where you buy.

Asus Eee PC 1005PE Review from CNET.COM

Asus Eee PC 1005PE

Another Laptop for teens: Asus Eee PC 1005PE

"not recommended for gaming, but good for other stuff that teens love like collecting pictures, music and videos"

The 1005PE eschews most of the recent trends in Netbook design, sticking with a 10-inch 1,024x600 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and Windows 7 Starter. We've become accustomed to the high-def 1,366x768 pixel resolution screens found on 11-, 12-, and even some 10-inch Netbooks, so this lower resolution feels cramped and dated in comparison.

Review:

  • Weight and Size(√)- 2.8 lbs and
  • Memory/Storage Space(√)- 1GB, 800 MHz DDR2 memory and 160GB 5,400rpm storage.
  • Wireless Connectivity(√)- Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth
  • Power Consumption/Batteries(√)- Run for more than 8 hours on our grueling battery drain test.
  • Operating System(√)- Windows 7 Starter
